Aiseesoft Free YouTube Downloader is a video retrieval tool for Windows. The application looks a lot like Microsoft Office 2007, but without the text editing functions. It allows you to download video files not only from Youtube, but also from an array of other flash video websites. The most popular sites are all available (Youtube, Metacafe, etc.). To download a video, you need to add a new task. You can tell the application to download a file or just give it the URL of a YouTube video, and it will download it. When you add a YouTube video (or one from any of the other sites), the Downloader will show the source URL and the file size of that particular video, along with a progress bar.
By the looks of it, the application uses a multi-threaded approach to downloading videos. It uses multiple connections to speed up the process. In practice, however, the speed looks the same as what you'd experience when viewing the video online. This downloader also supports batch downloads and it has a good queueing system. You can pause and stop one or several videos. The only thing that is missing is a video player for the downloaded FLV players. An inbuilt one would have made this application so much better. Other than that, Aiseesoft Free YouTube Downloader does great. |
